History

In 1976 a Bible study was started in the Port Washington area with the desire to start a Bible-teaching church. Open Door Bible Church's first service was held on January 2, 1977. The church originally met in rented facilities in Port Washington (for the first nine years as it turned out). Pastor Sid Litke came in 1984.

In 1985 the original building at the present location was purchased and renovated and the first services were held on Easter Sunday, 1986. In 1987 God directed us to plant Grace Bible Church in Adell as an outgrowth of our ministry. In 1991 the building expansion began and services started in the present auditorium in March, 1994. Later developments included additional offices, developing the basement into educational space, purchasing additional land, and renovating nurseries and restrooms. In 1999 Pastor Jim Engelman joined the staff and in 2005 Pastor Seth Meeks joined the staff as well.

Affiliations

Open Door Bible church is a non-denominational church. God has used many biblically based denominations but we feel we can best accomplish God's purposes for us as we can make our own decisions concerning pastors, finances, programs, missions and church government. Actually, we belong to the IFCA International, which is an organization of churches, individuals and other ministry organizations that share the same biblical beliefs. Our affiliation with IFCA International provides fellowship in conferences, contact with ministry specialists, as well as an opportunity to work together in some joint ministries.

Desire

The most important lines of our story of course are the real stories of people who have come to know Christ as Savior and continue their spiritual growth here. We are excited about the people God leads to us and would be pleased to have you become a part of the church family. If God leads you to worship with us, we trust that you will become a part of the ongoing story of God's faithfulness at Open Door Bible Church.

Our vision for the future is simply a continuation of our history. We seek to meet the spiritual needs of people in the nearby communities and to accommodate the growth that God gives (See vision link)
